Meet the Island City Coaches

Coach Katie

My name is Katie and I get to coach and direct SoleKIDS in La Grande. I watched my nephews participate in the SoleKIDS program from its initial year and loved how much they loved it and how running is now a part of their daily lives. I started running during my college years and I appreciate how easy it is to get out there. All one needs is a pair of shoes and a little dedication. One of my favorite things to do when I’m traveling is to get to know the area on a run. I am a former project manager and business systems analyst and currently get to stay home to raise my son Andrew. We’re fortunate that so far he loves to explore outside as much as we do. He’ll be joining us at practices and I hope he will enjoy it as much as I do.

Coach Amber

My name is Amber Danforth and I am excited to help kids as a coach for SoleKIDS. I am a stay at home mom with four kids under the age of 7. I am always looking for ways to involve my children in sports and other activities to improve their health.  I have also noticed an improvement in their attitudes after having physical activity outside. My boys love running fast like Sonic or Flash and I’m glad there is an opportunity like SoleKIDS to expand their interests and teach them a new sport. .

Coach Leigh

My name is Leigh. I like to run and be outside. I have two sons who enjoy running and getting out as well. We are looking forward to SoleKIDS and having fun with the kids at Island City.

Interested in Coaching?

The number of kids who can participate in the SoleKIDS program is driven by the number of coaches and adults we have running with the kids. We would love to continue to grow the program in the Grande Ronde Valley. Contact katie@solekids.org to learn more.
