Meet the Island City Coaches

Coach Angie
Hi. I’m Angie Brown Harris (aka The Fun One) and a lifelong La Grande resident, with deep roots in running. I grew up going to marathons and ultra marathons my dad was running and started running myself in my early thirties. The opportunity to support young people learning that running is fun felt like a great fit, and I jumped at it! When I’m not running, I work as a massage therapist and functional nutrition counselor. I am married with two grown daughters.

Coach Kirby
My name is Kirby and I have two kids that attend Island City Elementary. I am excited to help out with SoleKIDS this year because getting outside with my family is one of my favorite things to do. I look forward to encouraging kids to get outside, getting some exercise and learning that it can be fun.

Coach Kayla
Island City with my son Kyler, and I’m excited to coach this year alongside my younger son, Luka. I’ve loved running since high school cross-country, and I’m grateful to be part of a program that teaches kids to train for something hard, stay positive, and support one another along the way. It’s amazing to see the whole community come out to support the kids on race day, cheering along the course and seeing all the kids and buddies smiling at the finish line!
